Industrial plants grow step by step. New equipment, additional piping and modifications gradually fill the available space. That makes upgrades and replacing equipment in the middle of an existing plant increasingly complex.
When a situation becomes complex, Titan supports with a feasibility study combining tools such as 3D scanning with the client’s process knowledge. Together we determine how an existing process can be modified within a live plant and translate this into a complete execution plan that meets applicable legislation, regulations and the strict specifications of the chemical industry.
For this client in the chemical industry, Titan developed a complete plan to replace a super duplex tank located in the middle of the plant. To keep operations running, several pipelines will first be temporarily rerouted. Structural steel will then be modified and the new tank will be lifted into position in two sections. For all site welds, Titan prepared a complete Non Destructive Examination plan to ensure a safe, reliable vessel.
The agitator has been fully engineered as part of the design, ensuring a precise match between the agitator, the tank and the structural steel under the significant loads involved. All piping isometrics were developed with the required slopes to prevent blockages and the correct configuration to allow effective flushing of the system.
By defining the full scope upfront, Titan has reduced key execution risks and created a clear basis for planning and budget control. Following the study, Titan was able to offer the complete project at a fixed price and has been awarded the full scope.
